Islamic Artist for schools: Almir Cek Sujkovic

Islamic Artist Almir Cek Sujkovic

When I contacted Islamic Artist Razwan Ul-Haq  to ask him if my blog about him was OK to go, he suggested that I also write about another Islamic Artist for schools:  Almir Cek Sujkovic.   When I got in touch with Almir, I understood why.   His work is accessible, has positive messages for growing children, inclusive of many viewpoints and above all, there's a story behind each of his Artworks.

When teaching the concept of God in Islam, this is a very interesting idea.

Almir entitles the following Art as:

"The Piece that should not be missing out of my life

For those who know Arabic, they will be able to recognise that Almir has cleverly written the word Allah in a jigsaw piece!  This would be a really great way to encourage pupils to do their own pieces of Artwork.   It's not too different to the work produced with my children.  According to Razwan Ul-Haq, "This work is genius.  It uses a minimum of recognisable aspects of Arabic, and yet tells a great story."  This is a useful wiki page on how the word Allah is made up in conventional Arabic:

If pupils need to see how to write the word Allah, in an artistic manner, they can go on Razwan Ul-Haq's gallery to introduce them to the Arabic way of writing Allah (it is read from right to left).

Below is another awesome piece of Art using the word Allah by Almir:

I know many schools make Eid Cards.
This one could be a good one for the whole class to look at:

The class may enjoy a discussion about this card.
What does the cube represent?
(Also in the top right hand corner is "Eid Mubarak" written in Arabic.

Almir also does interesting things with colour.  The following is a piece entitled "Photosynthesis."

I very much hope your school's pupils enjoyed their Art Session with Almir Cek Sujkovic.  Thank you Almir Cek Sujkovic for bringing us these wonderful pieces of Art!  Insha Allah I hope one day to interview this Artist and bring it to you on this blog.
